In Memory of My Mother-in-Law

On Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 1:17 am we lost my mother-in-law to Alzheimers. We are sad to see her go, but we are thankful she is not in pain or confused anymore. She endured more than anyone should have to.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be,

So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to me".

With tearful eyes we watched you,

and saw you pass away,

And though we loved you dearly,

we could not make you stay.

Stampin' Up!'s COLOR RENOVATION!

Are you ready to shake things up? I sure hope so! With the new catalog comes a fun new change.We're going to say goodbye to some friends, welcome back old friends, and say hello to new friends!!!! Are you ready?

They are changing up our 5 color families and making them 4 color collections. Yes, that means we'll see some of the colors leave, some old In-Colors brought back (yay!), and some fun new colors join in the mix. So why am I telling you guys this, this early? Well first of all because you are a loyal customer, but also so you can budget for/plan to get some of those colors that will be leaving us and get excited about new colors coming in. I am excited that a lot of my favorite In-colors are back. Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango, River Rock, Soft Suede, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze and Wild Wasabi will all be joining us again - Yippee! The new friends that will be joining us are: Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, and Marina Mist.

Now as for the ones that are leaving, I know some will be sad to see certain colors go (I am too), but this change will be good! Be sure to stock up on your favorites! I know it's a lot to take in.
Here are a couple more important things..

Every year we will introduce 5 new incolors like we have been, but they will stick around for two years. So 5 new colors will roll out July '10, then another 5 July '11. Then in July '12 the first batch of 5 will retire and we'll get 5 new ones!!!!

Craft inks will now only come in full size pads for Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White. All the colors will still be available in the spot size, but if you want full size pads, order them now!

A handful of core colors will change every 3 to 5 years to keep the color pallete updated and fresh.

Valentine's Day in Rm 4! (2nd Grade)

Chuck and I have been asking Kayley if she wants to get her ears pierced for the past few years. She always responded with a "NO!!" This past week her friend, Cooper from school gave her a belated Christmas gift. The gift was a big assortment of earrings! That night she said "I guess I need to get my ears' pierced now." Wednesday was a Minimum Day at her school, so we headed to the mall to get them done! She invited along her friend, Diana for support. She did great and is so proud of her new look!

The birthday saying is from the new Well Scripted set - find it in the Occasions Mini. Love the font and it has so many great sayings in it! One of my favorite new sets! The New Sending Love Epoxy Brad in Chocolate Chip adds just a little bit to the card!

This past Friday night we had Kayley's Birthday party - Oct was just too busy! When we saw the new Build-A-Bear kits at Costco, I knew it what theme we had to do! I made all the girls goodie bags using the BAB dies and Designer Paper from Stampin' up! They turned out so cute!

Thank goodness my hubby is a great dad and helped me sew the bears for the girls. We were sewing until 11:30 that night! We did get all the bears done and the girls had a great time!

Altered Doggie Album for My SS

I wanted to share the Dog Album I made for my CHP Wives Secret Sister. She has 3 doggies, so I knew a personalized album would be perfect for her. I used the D IS FOR DOG stamp set from Stampin' Up! One of my favorite doggie stamps they've ever had. The paper is from a paper stack - non-SU!

Boo in 1998

This past Wednesday we lost one of our four-legged kids. We got Boo as a puppy in October of 1996. We had 13 great years with her. She was a great dog - she loved kids and other dogs. She was a trouble maker though. She loved to get into the trash and the laundry - our dirty underwear had to be kept away from her! I also have quite a few pictures of her with a muddy nose. She will be missed! Kayley especially is having a hard time since she grew up with her and she says she was the only dog that would follow her around.

Here's our Boo Girl the morning of the 16th. She had stopped eating and wasn't able to get up and move around. We didn't want her to suffer anymore. We were with her for her last breath.

Scallop Square Cards

I am hooked on the Scallop Square Die from Stampin' Up!

I used the "D is for Dog" for this one and the Soft Suede In-Color cardstock, ink, and ribbon.

This was another August Stamp Class project. We used the "Bright Blessings" Jumbo Wheel (p.27 of the catalog).

I used one of the centers from one of the Medallion cards on this one. Card was embossed with the Finial Press Embossing Folder. Love the Soft Suede with so many colors - its very versatile!

Medallion Stamp - LOVE IT!!

Last month we used the Medallion Stamp from SU! in my monthly stamp club classes. This stamp is so versatile and I love how you can add so many different things to the middle to create different looks. This is for sure one of my favorite stamps!!

The Pretties Kit with Dazzling Diamonds on the flower. I brushed some Crystal Effects on each petal and then poured the glitter over it. I used Craft White ink and then stamped another image in Black and cut it out to the square piece.

Love the White Jumbo Grommets in the center! This is one of the cards my Stamp Club members made in August.

I've been working on Kayley's Kindergarten Album for years now!! I'm trying to get it done before she is done with 2nd Grade now!! lol It's the big joke with my scrap group since I've been working on it since she was in Kindergarten. I was so excited to see that the new Build-A-Bear products would work great with the Teddy Bear Picnic pictures I had. The Alphabet is the Go-Go Boots Alphabet - also from Stampin' Up! LOVE the new BAB Designer Paper also!

Last weekend I was playing with the new Build-A-Bear Dies in my stamp room. Kayley and her friend wanted to play too. Here's what they came up with -

First Day of 2nd Grade - August 3, 2009

I have no idea where the summer went! It flew by! Kayley was back to school this past Monday, August 3. Where has this week gone!? Modeling her new backpack! No more character ones this year - she says this one is a "5th grader backpack"! :) She's so grown up!!

In front of school - she hates me taking this picture every year. This is as close as she would get for me this year.

In her 2nd grade class, which is the same classroom and teacher she had last year! We got lucky and she got her favorite teacher, Mr. Maglinte again. She also has a lot of friends from her Kindergarden and 1st grade classes in her class this year.

Baby Memory Box

I thought this box would go great with Baby Tanner's album, so I used more of the retired Manhattan Designer Paper for the trim of the top of the box. I used the Felt Chocolate Chip ribbon from last year's Winter Mini around it also. LOVE that ribbon! I cut out the letters using my BIG SHOT and The SERIF ESSENTIALS ALPHABET (p.199 in the catalog). I used left over thick cardboard from something and then used Modge Podge to attach the Chocolate Chip paper to the top. The letters were also cut using the Big Shot. I put another layer of Modge Podge on top before I stuck them down. The photo box is from Micheals.

Rock-a-Bye Boy - Baby Album

This has been a year of baby boys for my girlfriends! I ordered the Rock-a-Bye Boy Simply Scrappin' kit before it was retired to do 2 of the albums. This was the first kit I had tried out and I loved it - everything coordinated - the textured cardstock, Designer Paper, and you got tons of embellishments! I finished 2 baby albums and cards to match with the kit. I did add some more solid colored cardstock and in this album I also used the retired Manhattan Designer Paper since the baby's room is brown/blue. I definitely will be getting more Simply Scrappin' Kits to do albums.

This page has a poem about a lock of baby's hair and a cello bag to hold it. Now I need to get inspired to get an album done for Kayley, my baby who will be 8 this Oct.

I also decorated a Baby Memories box for little Tanner. I'll post that tomorrow! Loving my Big Shot for that one!! :)

We met up with a friend of mine from jr high/high school at Disneyland on the 15th. We found each other on Facebook. It had been 19 years since we had seen each other! We had a fun day and a great lunch at Oggi's before we had to head home.

Chuck popped the BIG question!! Here we are my sorority sister's wedding. He proposed right before we were supposed to go down to the wedding. He was sitting in a chair in the corner of the hotel room while I got ready and I asked him if he was ok. He was looking a little nervous. Then he popped the question. His big joke is that I said "Oh my make-up!" since I had just gotten ready for the wedding and then had tears streaming down my face when he proposed.

I can't believe it has been 13 years!! This August we'll celebrate 12 years of marriage!

I'm going to miss this stamp set. WILD ABOUT YOU ended up on the SU! Retiring List. I knew I wanted to use it for June's stamp class. When I saw the Faux Alligator Technique, I knew it would go great with it! Love that little alligator! We used some of the "Good Morning Sunshine" Designer Paper too since its retiring also - too many good things leaving the catalog! :( Of course, we had to layer it on Kiwi Kiss cardstock. Graduation Cards for Brittany & Staci

Here are the Graduates! We are so proud of them! These are the first cousins/nieces to graduate high school for us from both sides of our families. The next few years we'll have another one graduating each year. Guess I better get some more Graduation cards done! Brittany and Staci - I was honored to take Senior Pictures for them. We had fun going around town shooting photos.

On Friday, June 5th we celebrated Chuck's 39th birthday with an afternoon/evening at Disneyland!! Happy Birthday to the best husband!! I love you!!

Last Day of First Grade!

Kayley's last day of First Grade with some of her classmates. The kids had an ice cream social and then watched "Monsters Inc". They also had fun playing games and signing yearbooks.

Kayley hates it, but I always make her take a picture in front of school on the First Day and the Last Day! She'll like it when she's older!! :)

Awards Day for Kayley!!

We are so proud of Kayley! Wednesday was the 1st Grade Awards Assembly. We were surprised to find out she had the Most Points for Accelerated Reader for her class!! Way to go my little book worm!

She also got a Citizenship Award and Perfect Attendance for the 3rd Trimester and the Year!!

We are so proud of her hardwork this year! I still remember her comments at the beginning of the year when she was talking to my mom on the phone. She told her that "This year is going to be very hard - first grade is hardwork!"

Here is a picture of her First Grade class. She had an awesome and crazy teacher - Mr. Maglinte. The kids love him and we've gotten to know him also. He's a great guy! We're so blessed Kayley got to have him as a teacher.

Today is the last day of school - I'm off to help with the Ice Cream Social!! This year just flew by - I can't believe my baby will be in 2nd Grade next year. It feels like she just started Kinder yesterday. Was it coindidence that when I started typing this post the Abba song "Slipping Through My Fingers" came on???
